Job Description

KSTR Wildlife Rescue is seeking a passionate, experienced, and mission-driven Executive Director to lead our organization into its next chapter of growth and impact. Located near Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica, KSTR is dedicated to wildlife rescue, rehabilitation, and conservation, operating both a veterinary hospital and sanctuary.

Position Overview

The Executive Director will work closely with the Board of Directors to provide strategic leadership and oversee day-to-day operations. This role requires a dynamic leader who can manage a diverse, bilingual team, strengthen organizational capacity, and expand fundraising and outreach efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Strategy

    • Collaborate with the Board of Directors to guide long-term vision and organizational growth
    • Ensure alignment of programs with KSTR’s mission and conservation goals

Operations Management

      • Oversee staff and support leadership team, including the Veterinary Director and Sanctuary Manager
      • Ensure smooth operation of the wildlife rescue hospital and sanctuary

Fundraising & Development

    • Lead and support fundraising initiatives, donor relations, and partnership development
    • Identify new revenue streams and growth opportunities

Marketing & Outreach

    • Provide direction to marketing and social media interns to effectively promote KSTR’s work
    • Strengthen brand visibility and public engagement

Volunteer & Intern Programs

    • Support the Volunteer Coordinator in recruiting and retaining interns and volunteers
    • Help expand and enhance program offerings

Qualifications

  • Proven leadership experience in nonprofit management, wildlife conservation, or a related field
  • Strong organizational and team management skills
  • Experience in fundraising, donor relations, or development
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Fluency in both Spanish and English (required)
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural, international environment
  • Passion for wildlife rescue, conservation, and community engagement
