Job Description
Seeking a responsible Curator/animal care manager at the Leesburg Animal Park.
The Park Curator is responsible for establishing & implementing protocols for animal care, health and husbandry. The Park Curator implements protocols established by the Director and assists in establishing new ones as needed. Areas of responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Work to maintain established protocols for opening and closing the Park.
- Coordinate volunteers/interns.
- Maintain current medical/drug inventory log books.
- Maintain Animal Care Software record keeping system.
- Train keepers in proper protocols in daily feeding and cleaning procedures for animals. Train staff on animal encounters and shows.
- Maintain feed charts and ensures record keeping is up to date.
- Establish & enforce cleanliness standards.
- Care for sick animals and call the vet, as needed.
- Maintain and implement animal care and breeding schedules.
- Meet with vets, farriers, and other specialists, as needed.
- Maintain requirements of the animal care program by the USDA.
Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
Must have had 5 years paid experience with exotic and some large farm animals.
